Yankees Update & Japan 787 Trip

Quick Yankees thoughts and some notes on my upcoming Japan trip:

Yesterday was the 100th anniversary of the opening of Fenway Park. There was a big celebration before the game between the Yankees and Red Sox, our first time playing them this season.

Then, we kicked the crap out of them. Nick Swisher hit a bomb over the Green Monster. Eric Chavez hit two bombs, one over the Green Monster. A-Rod hit one into the seats. And, to round things off, Russell Martin hit his first homer of the season. Final score 6-2. Another solid outing for Nova.

A special thanks to Rob for supplying this little piece of art. Not a big NY Post fan, but this sums it up:

Fast forward to today, and the Red Sox got their revenge. They jumped all over us from the first pitch and were pretty quickly up 7-0 before stretching it to 9-0. Game over.

Except, then the Yankees woke up. And scored the next 15 runs. Final score 15-9. It’s very early in the season, but what a satisfying win. And, you can hear the Red Sox screaming for Bobby V’s head already.

Tomorrow I leave for Boston to take off on the inaugural 787 flight from Boston to Tokyo. I won the ticket during oneworld MegaDO.

I’m pretty excited about the trip. It would be even better if the family was coming. Before we had kids I got used to exploring new countries with Michelle. We continued that tradition with Catherine in Italy.

The 787 is an awesome plane, and this is my first time going to Japan. I may not have as much time to post over the next few days, but I hope to have some great pictures and stories to share shortly.
