Yankees Sign Andy Pettitte to Minor League Contract

I never saw this coming.  ESPN is reporting that the Yankees have signed Andy Pettitte to a one-year deal.

I was very sorry to see Andy retire last year.  I thought he still had something left in the tank.  He’s not a #1 starter anymore, but I think he could be a serviceable #3 or #4 in a rotation.  Of course, now that the Yankees signed Pineda and Koruda, I don’t really know where Andy fits.  Maybe he gets the nod over Garcia for the 4th spot in the rotation?  I don’t view him as a likely long-relief candidate, but Garcia could be.

At any rate, it’s nostalgic to see Andy in pinstripes again, if just a few years past his glory days.
