AA Extends Double Miles for CA, IL, and TX Residents

If you’re lucky enough to live in CA, IL or TX and fly AA, you were earning double elite qualifying miles the first couple months of this year.  In very early January, it was TRIPLE EQMs based on the DEQM promo AA had going on nationwide.

But now, MommyPoints just noticed that AA has extended DEQM in these three states until the end of June!

This means you only need 12,500 flight miles to earn Gold status, 25,000 for Platinum and 50,000 for EXP.

MommyPoints covers the advantages of Gold, but things get even better at Platinum with 100% bonus miles on all miles flown and a really high upgrade percentage on your domestic flights.

And, there’s always Executive Platinum, which I think is the best top-tier status in the US.  EXP earns you 8 SWUs (Systemwide Upgrades), which are the best in the biz.  An SWU will get you an upgrade to the next class of service on ANY fare on ANY AA plane in the world, subject to availability (and the availability is quite good).  Not to mention the only tier that gives you free upgrades domestically on 100% of your flights.

Even if you only shoot for one of the lower tiers here, there’s huge value.  With some of the fare sales, you can find tickets from ORD and DFW to LAX and SFO for less than $300.  That ticket nets you over 5,000 EQMs.  You need 5 of those to achieve Gold status.
